Noida - skeletons in the closet
My home pageThe Noida affair of children's skeleton is getting grislier and murkier by the day resulting in new skeletons tumbling out of the closet (sic) . The entire issue and the police handling of the affair makes one sick to the core. The episode brings to light the pathetic condition of the law and order system of the country. The police have been changing their stance on the issue quicker than you can say shut up.
First of all the alleged culprits - what kind of sick and mentally deranged individuals are we dealing with. No person with an iota of saneness would indulge in such acts of crime which can only be termed as heinous and sickening. My call - shoot the bastards.
Next the police - first and foremost the sheer apathy of our police to take heed to the numerous missing cases complaints that were being filed.. The cops are so busy licking the asses of politicians and superiors (and of course making money for themselves) that over the period of years they have actually forgotten what their primary responsibility is - that of safeguarding the interest of the people and safeguarding the politicians and their own personal interest. The system needs some shock treatment - someone needs to crack a whip at the police... (the fracas with the military personnel in kolkatta is another issue in point). The matter should be handed over to CBI. The government should show some character and spine and ensure that the accused are brought to book as soon as possible rather than dragging its feet on the case and allow the matter to die a natural death.
The intelligent quotient of the police : The children were going missing from a particular area yet the police did nothing to investigate into details. Now hear this - the neibhour of the alleged sukhwinder is a doctor whose name has already appeared in an organ stealing racket.. shouldnt this have rung alarm bells???
The way the police has been changing its statement to the media makes one wonder is there more to this issue than what appears on the surface. Initially they said that they were finding only the skulls and limbs leading the media to speculate on the theory of organ stealing racket. Suddenly since yesterday they have been claiming that they have also found the torsos... where did the torsos suddenly appear from ( does someone higher up wants to snuff out the organ stealing angle).
Now the political angle - the area involved is so small that it is not a worthwhile vote bank for our esteemed (sic) politicians to even consider this affair worth debating. However with the growing media attention on the whole thing has made them suddenly realise that this could be used as a political issue. BJP is baying for mulayam singh yadav's blood saying that it will go on a bandh within the next 48 hrs. Raj Babbar has suddenly started appearing on the press saying that we should all be ashamed of the state of affairs (aww shut up ..... ). With elections around the corner the ruling party is suddenly wary that this might be used as a political gun to shoot them out of power.
To add insult to injury the government has issued Rs.2,00,000 compensation to the aggreived parents...this is really the icing on the cake ... the move to quieten the people's voice by handing over compensation comes out as being very cheap and insensitive.
In conclusion -
The whole affair will go down the drain of time as a gruesome affair which generated some media attention and then simmered down. People will forget the sordid incident and will go about their routine. However my heart goes out for the people who have lost their little ones and for whom this incident will be a life long reminder of how shabbily India treats its citizen when it comes to law and order.
